When my mother was young
When my mother was young, her life was poor. But she lived happily. Until now, she often tells me about when she was young. These days, because of the COVID -2019, we have to stay at home. So my mother and I stay together day and night. She showed me the pictures when she was young.
When my mother was in primary school, she is interested in reading Jin Yong's novel. She says that she dug a hole on the desk and read Jin Yong’s novels during the class. Now she often tells me about the book. When she was at home, she always played with her doll rabbit. She says she’s afraid of cockroaches. So she used the toy rabbit to scare away the little insects.
When my mother was a teenager, she loved Chinese and English. She won the first place in the national writing competition. Now she often teaches me writing. She had an accident when she was at the age of nine. She fell onto the ground when she rode on a bike. She felt scared. She ran back home quickly and washed the wound with water. Because the water was dirty, so she left a scar on her knee. And she told me she was afraid that my grandparents would curse her, so she didn’t go to the hospital. It was painful. My mother once did silkworm breeding. She thought grandma was so boring that she painted and drew lots of strange pictures on her silkworm. However, my mother is frightened of silkworms now.
When she was in middle school, she played Poker with her classmates. She always played Chinese Chess with her desk mate. She took part in the English competition in Guangdong Province and won the first place. She loved English very much. She is good at sprinting because she always did sports after school.
When she was in university, she majored in law. She lived in a dorm with other seven girls. They’re my mother’s good friends. Until now, they often meet and talk on WeChat. They often eat out and gather together. Her best friend’s name is Totoro. They celebrated Christmas and hugged each other. At that time, she didn’t have any mobile phones. There was only one telephone in the dorm building. When my grandparents wanted to find her, they had to call the dorm supervisor to ask her to pick up the telephone. She didn’t have an air-conditioner in the dorm. In summer, she can only use the electric fan. She was too hot to fall asleep. In 2003, a coronavirus called SARS appeared. SARS’s major epidemic area is Guangdong Province, Hong Kong, and Beijing. At that time, they suspend classes like we do now. She and her best friends were afraid of being infected. But at that time, only few people wore masks. And masks were not so difficult to buy.
When my mother met my father during her doctor degree study, they often discussed on the same academic. They had many same interests. They went jogging every day in campus. At last, they married. They had born me. And that’s the happy ending of the prince and the princess.
