Chinese New Year’s Eve
Today I will introduce a festival, named Chinese New Year’s Eve. It’s also called Chu Xi. The festival is always on lunar December 30th. This year, it’s on January 24th.
Chu Xi is in winter, usually in January or February. It’s cold and windy, but sometimes it’s warm and foggy. We wear heavy coats, sweaters, jeans, scarfs and hats. We usually have long holidays. So I often go travelling at this festival.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve, the night before Spring Festival, people get together to eat a big dinner, watch the gala, watch fireworks and pay New Year calls. People usually say, “Wish you prosperity”, “Everything goes well”…
The origin of Chu xi is said about how people drove away a monster named Xi. I like it very much. First, we children have much fun on Chinese New Year’s Eve. I can get lucky money from Parents. Sometimes I am allowed to play till late in the night. I can eat yummy snacks too.
Second, we can do all the things with all the family. We can share a lot of things with each other.
Last but the best, we have a long holiday to spend because of the festival!
